It’s been a slim-on-snow kind of winter. A little here. A little there. But not much enduring on the ground. And while this has been a boon for completing projects on Rosslyn’s outdoor punch list, it’s not quite the winter lifestyle bonanza we associate with Adirondack Coast-ing. That said, the weather wizards are forecasting snow. Tonight. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe even Wednesday and Friday. Will it come? Anybody’s guess. But I’m feeling the exciting tickle of optimism. So in hopes of priming the pump — does that metaphor even work with snow?!?! — I share with you this evening a flashback to a 2009 x-country ski with Griffin.

Perhaps nostalgic memories of Susan enjoying an energetic adventure with out former Labrador Retriever will please the snow gods! In the same slightly superstitious vein, let’s return to a previous post subtly attempting to seduce the mysterious providers of white winter bliss.
Snow arriving, or so we are told. Possibly… powder. Or mashed potatoes. Or something in between. If meteorologists are correct, we’ll be creating fresh cross-country ski tracks in the days ahead. (Source: Cross-Country Ski Tracks)

Perhaps even more effective would be an excerpt from another snowy outing, albeit a wax-needed x-country ski day.
What is the cross-country skiing equivalent of schussing down a powdery piste? If it exists — some etymologically Nordic, onomatopoeicly swooshy reference for scissoring smoothly across a snowy meadow or through a snowy forrest — I could sneak it into today’s outing. But I’d be waxing poetic. Projecting fantasy onto a considerably stickier cross-country skiing experience. (Source: Cross-Country Skiing)

It’s a win-win weather outlook, I suppose. Just as sticky or powdery snow is still an opportunity to head out to Rosslyn’s backland for beauty and exercise. So too, snowless productivity or x-country ski adventures are both pretty good options. Looking forward, either way!
