Mud Season
Up in the North Country we have an additional season tucked in between winter and spring, commonly referred to as “mud season”. For some of us, however, there are two major redeeming qualities to this bonus season: maple sugaring (harvesting sap from maple trees and boiling it into maple syrup) and transformation. Indeed “mud season” is undeniably a time of transformation, a liminal threshold between the sometimes severe circumstances of winter and the encouraging rebirth of springtime.
