Maybe La Niña. Or mysterious whims of the weather gods. Or something else. We wonder. We wait. And wonder. And wait. For now, winter’s stingy gift of skinny snow is a reminder to take advantage of all meteorological conditions whether or not skiing, snowshoeing, and skating are are viable and enticing.

So we focus on outdoor projects that would normally be untenable this time of year due to snow and ice. Field and trail maintenance. Consolidating brush piles, removing rotten woodpiles, and organizing the gravel pad where we store tractor attachments and other maintenance equipment.
And we keep in perspective the fact that skinny snow is exceptional, but less and less exceptional each year. The image above was taken a little less than a week ago, and the image below was taken 13 years ago.

Increasingly March seems to bring the biggest snowfalls. Perhaps this year it will be late January. Or February…
Skinny Snow Haiku
If total snowfall
wrought winter’s worth in treasure,
paupers we’d be all.
900 Day Streak
Ready for an itty-bitty humblebrag? As of today I’ve posted 900 daily updates in a row. Uninterrupted. No breaks. No excuses.
My daily journaling challenge about our old-house-new-home escapades started out as a 1-year challenge. That became two years. And that now is on target to reach a revised 1,000 day goal right around my birthday.
Thank you for sticking with me, encouraging me, and helping motivate this marathon. If my 900th post is your first, I hope you’ll join us for the rest of the adventure!
