Among autumn rituals at Rosslyn, wood sealing and resealing is one of the more weather dependent. Garapa decks, teak furniture, the dory’s cherry wood all need annual attention: patient, hands on, detail oriented application of oil to preserve and protect. All of this oiling necessitates low humidity, precipitation free days, so seasonal sealing turns the team into amateur meteorologists!
Glen, so often the bearer of good news, told me this yesterday.
75° and not a cloud in the sky today. More importantly, no morning dew!
Expecting same weather Tuesday and Wednesday, so I’m hoping [to get] this deck and icehouse decks checked off the list.
And as of this afternoon, he was right on schedule.
Main deck and icehouse front deck done except the fascia boards covered by the grasses. I’ll have to go back when those are trimmed down and finish. Didn’t seem like a real good way to get to it without trampling grass.
And it looks like another good day tomorrow ranging from 57° to 72° with mixed sun and clouds, but no precipitation. Perfect!
Many thanks, Glen, for meteo-juggling adeptly in your quest to seasonal sealing success!
