I apologize in advance if today’s daily dispatch falls short. A veritable haiku of a post I admit, too seed-like, too embryonic, too abbreviated, too preliminary to more than merely hint. But I offer it as a sort of amuse-gueule with the humble hope of awakening your appetite, and your curiosity. Perhaps if you accept it in the spirit of a prelude to corners and returns?
Full disclosure: it’s my bias and conviction that corners and returns are the heart and soul of architecture and design. Yes, astute readers will note, texture is also essential for me. But it is the corners and returns that define and distinguish the built environment.
I will revisit this assertion in the weeks and months ahead. I will try to draw upon more learned arbiters, and I will offer you a more comprehensive portfolio of examples. But not yet.
For now, I’d prefer to step aside, mostly muzzled, so that you may observe this small seekers of images made of the same subject over time. Spanning 12 years, I believe the photographs speak for themselves. At least, I hope they do.
All I ask of you is 1) some subtle consideration of the bias I have already articulated, and 2) a thoughtful viewing of these photographs. I hope you see what I see!
What do you think?
