An unsexy update, you guess, from the title. The photo. Techie talk doesn’t up-tempo your enthusiasm? Fair enough. But rest assured that wiring Rosslyn’s network hub with our friend, Mark Englehardt, back in our earliest days after move-in was a a momentous achievement with which we’ve been grateful every day since.
Although these photographs stayed from November 25, 2015, they actually document the day that we all rewired Rosslyn’s network hub. Our initial setup had been hasty and incomplete. Somehow the years slipped past without needing to fine-tune and finalize. Half a dozen years. Everything worked well enough.
Until it didn’t. Shifting needs and improved technology prompted us to update our home networks’ homebase. I’ve used “us” and “we” generously. But my sloppy language awards me far too much credit. I was the gopher. Mark was – Mark IS – the wonky one able to figure it all out. As long as I’ve known Mark he’s been solving technical problems for me. is that good. And that patient. And that generous.
Network Hub Haiku
Connective tissue
concealed by trim and plaster,
domestic nexus.
Although my soul wants to sing lyrically about the remarkable overlap between a network hub and a large plate of spaghetti (maybe with squid sauce?) today’s post was supposed to introduce, albeit in in a new way, the cohesive integration that is so often hidden but critical in a home. The inconspicuous connective tissue through which all of the discreet parts are able to communicate, to work together in symphony.
But Friday has busted me, and my cleverness left the building several hours ago. Not much left except for enthusiasm, and that I intend to direct to my bride and my parents who are joining us for dinner. And so I conclude with a long overdue, but profoundly heartfelt “Thank you!” to my friend and tech wizard, Mark Engelhardt. As always, I hope you know how grateful I am.
What do you think?
