Another practical and aesthetically pleasing accomplishment to report. Glen and Tony have almost finished the carriage barn enclosure fence now that the gate is hung. And, rest assured, there’s plenty more to this than meets the eye.
Designed as a slightly larger version of the gates that we use around the orchard, vegetable, and fruit gardens, this handsome two-part gate is as handsome as it is functional. Fabricated from Rosslyn’s stump-to-lumber cedar, this iteration is slightly more formal than the three gate openings southwest and northwest of the carriage barn by virtue of the paint finish to match Rosslyn’s trim color and the antique hardware. This similarity-and-difference subtly integrates it with the other gardening/barn elements in a cohesive and consistent way while allowing for a gradual shift from the home’s formality to the more utilitarian and rustic aesthetic of the barns, gardens, and orchards.
Congratulations to Glen and Tony for taking yet another project from vision through well executed fabrication and finish to installation and fine tuning. Thank you!
