What to do when you run out of dog food but you still have fresh eggs from Full and By Farm and strawberries from the garden? Carley would say it’s an opportunity to celebrate country living with fresh, homemade, farm-to-table dog food!
Over the last couple of years Carley has become an especially loyal fan of Shine Pet Food (formerly Marty’s Meals), locally owned and operated in Santa Fe, our dog’s *other* hometown. But it’s a long way to “The City Different”, and we’d failed to realize we were running low, lower,… out.
And, if you’re familiar with labrador retrievers, you likely know that food —especially really good food — is their first, second, and third priorities. But Carley is nimble and adaptable, far and away the lowest maintenance dog we’ve ever had in our family. She decided early in her puppyhood that fresh food, ideally locally sourced and homegrown, was a terrific treat.
This morning she instantly knew, when I begin scrambling farm fresh eggs and removing the stems from garden-grown strawberries, that today was a special day. Almost as good as your birthday. And there was a perk: I could make the same breakfast for both of us because farm-to-table dogfood is farm-to-table human food. Happy Carley, and happy me!
