So far I’ve seen little of the Perseids this summer. Whether too overcast or too overcommitted, I’ve had onle one night that I remember witnessing the meteor showers. I was taking friends back to Essex after a delicious dinner at the Westport Yacht Club. Good visibility. Two bight meteors streaking across the dark dome. But perhaps this evening? My day’s end soak is about to happen later than anticipated, and I’m hoping to double my pleasure. A warm jetted massage. And a meteor shower!
I took this snapshot of the hot tub before sunset from the icehouse deck. Susan and Jen Cypress (dwellingphotography.com) were wrapping up their second marathon photo shoot, documenting Rosslyn for a still secret — ssshhh! — but-soon-to-be-announced happening. Looking northwest, over the sunken courtyard, across the “ice garden” meticulously tended by Team Teddi, toward the orchard and the hammock huddle, I yearned for a day’s end soak. But the heat and the humidity suggested otherwise. Perhaps sundowners?
Rotating another 45° to the left this second photo is almost the same view, but looking due west where the sun was settling into a dramatic cloud bank above Boquet Mountain. So serene. So calm. A welcome Wednesday wind-down.
I’ll be returning to this oasis in a couple of hours, once the sun sets and the temperature drops, for a day’s end soak. Aaahhh… August…
What do you think?
